America is the land of dreams and it appeals many immigrants to come there. One of them is Cuba. Cuban-Americans make such a long history living in America. Cuban American culture was formed from the ethnic group of Cuban descent who immigrated to the U.S. after the social revolution in 1959. There are about one million people of Cuba who live and have families in America, the average among them are highly educated people, middle-income and aren’t poorer when compared with the descendants of Spanish and Mexican, better known as the Hispanic.
Politically, the Cuban Americans generally tend to be more pro-Republican conservative party, and make Florida as their major voting block. Most of them choose to live in America in order to avoid the effort of government repression of Fidel Castro. This is the reason they chose Republican Party, since the party trying hard to oppose the communist government around the world.
The easiest way to identify the Cuban American culture is from types of food they eat. Every State has the hallmark of each, it is becoming a differentiator that has been common in this world. Most of the food consists of rice served at lunch or evening. Arroz con pollo (chicken and rice), pan con bistec (steak sandwich), yucca (cassava root), flan, batido de mamey (mamey milkshake), Papayas, and guava paste.
However, it is not merely the good cultures. Many of negative cultures are brought by them. Moreover, it attracts several film makers to express some negative side of Cuban American culture implicitly from the film. Bad Boys II is one of so many films that reflect the stereotypes of Cuban-Americans. Bad Boys II movie portrays the stereotypes of Cuban American culture especially in Miami. If we look at the film, kind of language used among Cuban American society in the United States can be seen from ‘spanglish’, ‘comprades’, and homeland nostalgic.
